D424 - Hosting Options

We do not recommend one hosting option over another. You should review all your options and pick one that is most appealing to you. Below are options for both Web and Mobile Apps.

Hosting Options for Web Apps

There are many options for hosting your web app. The most common ones students choose are AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. However, these are not your only choices. Below are a list of other free and paid hosts. It is your responsibility to review which host would be best for your application. Consider costs, features, and available customer support when selecting a hosting provider.

Hosting Options for Mobile Apps

While you do have to deploy your code to a cloud-based hosting provider, you are not required to use Google Play or Apple. The following list is by no means a complete list. But it does provide options. Students are required to do their own research and determine which host will work best for their situation. We can't always provide support to help troubleshoot issues. Keep in mind that we do not have any control over hosting provider policies or their customer support. Be sure you are aware of what is doable and what processes may impact your deadlines. Our advice is to start the process before you start coding. Some app stores have prolonged wait times to get approved. Starting at the beginning of the course can help prevent you from missing a submission deadline.

Using Firebase or Github Pages to set a static page with a link to your APK is generally the easiest method for Mobile Apps.
